Families in Worcester need our help. The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on our community. Unemployment and health concerns, navigating the challenges of remote learning, and losing out on those meals that schools typically provide has dramatically increased the level of stress on households that were already finding it hard to make ends meet. Food insecurity in Massachusetts has risen from 8.4% of house-holds pre-pandemic, to 17.5% of households at the end of 2020. Representing the largest relative increase of food-insecure individuals in the nation due to COVID-19, according to Project Bread's website. Last year, thanks to organizations and individuals like you, we were able to assist over 5,000 households representing roughly 14,000 individuals in Worcester who struggled with hunger and food insecurity. To ensure that these families in our community have enough to thrive-not just survive this summer, we are holding our 27th Annual Food Drive sponsored in part by K-LOVE 107.3 on June 7-13th 2021, at Shaw’s Supermarket on West Boylston St. A contribution today will help us stock the pantry for the busy summer months and assist us in helping local parents to provide wholesome food and essential items to their families despite all the obstacles. With your support, our vision to help people better their lives is clear. Life is better when you know where your next meal is coming from. Thanks in advance for making this a summer during which fewer parents need to worry about feeding their children.
